Auspicious days this month

About auspicious days

In Vietnamese tradition, every day has an "officer" (trực) and is classified as Hoàng Đạo (auspicious) or Hắc Đạo (inauspicious). This is based on the lunar calendar, the sexagenary cycle, and 12 traditional officers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Hoàng Đạo and Hắc Đạo days?

Hoàng Đạo (auspicious) days are governed by one of the 6 favourable gods of the 12-god cycle (Thanh Long, Minh Đường, Kim Quỹ, Bảo Quang, Ngọc Đường, Tư Mệnh). Hắc Đạo (inauspicious) days are governed by the 6 unfavourable gods.

How is the verdict computed?

For each lunar month, the cycle of 12 gods starts from a specific Earthly Branch. The day’s branch determines which god rules — and whether the day is auspicious.
